Phil Levett

Phil began fabricating exhaust systems for Good Fabrications in 1987, two years before the end of the first F1 turbo era in 1989. Phil took over the day to day running of GoodFabs after Steve Good’s tragic death in a helicopter accident in 1999. Having worked through the busy Champ Car years when GoodFabs made most of the exhaust systems on the IndyCar grid, he worked hard to establish a reputation for making long-lasting Inconel exhausts for NASCAR, a series that has traditionally used less expensive stainless steel headers.

Phil’s knowledge of fabrication techniques used to manipulate thin-wall exotic metals such as Inconel and titanium makes him a key contributor to both the design and manufacture of F1 exhausts. Often consulted by teams and engine builders at the early stages of exhaust design, Phil is also involved at different times during the season when issues are encountered or more performance required.

As new technology, such as additive manufacturing (DMLS) and advanced machining techniques, improve exhaust design, Phil’s ability to understand how the different processes work together make him an invaluable resource for customers looking to reduce weight and optimise packaging.

Didier De Lille

Didier is GoodFab’s consultant research and development design engineer and works hand in hand with in-house designers and fabricators to turn around models and drawings for tooling and jigs to deliver parts in very short timeframes.

With an MSc degree in Racing Engine Design from Oxford Brookes University accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and Institute of Engineering and Technology, Didier has a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical considerations associated with the design and functioning of racing engines, the use of different materials and the exhaust dynamics.

He has designed full F1 exhaust systems, including HRT’s Cosworth system in 2012 while at GoodFabs.

Outside of GoodFabs, Didier has worked on a number of automotive, racing and specialist projects.

Neil Morgan

As managing director, Neil oversees the financial, strategic, marketing, IT and HR elements of the business.

He joined GoodFabs in 2008 when several teams pulled out of F1 and sponsors reduced their commitment to many race series. He spent two years looking at how GoodFabs could serve other industries and made inroads into marine, oil and gas, aerospace and defence sectors.

In 2010, a new GoodFabs workshop was established in Mooresville, North Carolina to better serve the NASCAR market.

Following the entry of new teams into F1 and the renewed commitment of automotive companies such as Renault and Honda to the sport, he initiated significant investment in machining capacity to ensure that GoodFabs could readily control the speed and guaranteed supply of jigs, tooling and machined components.

Paul Watson

As Process Manager, Paul oversees the flow of work from initial order to final delivery with emphasis on quality and traceability.

Paul’s background in quality monitoring across several industries gives him a useful insight into how processes can be improved and adapted to ensure that tight timescales are met without compromising on customer requirements.
