GoodFabs Seeking Trainee Tube Former & Bender

Good Fabrications employs 30 staff dedicated to the design and manufacture of race exhaust systems for engine builders and race teams. Working at all levels of motorsport from the amateur enthusiast to Formula 1 and Supercars, GoodFabs as we are more widely known, has been at the forefront of our field for over 40 years.

The Company is headquartered in Long Crendon and supplies products worldwide. From this site, GoodFabs offers not only fabricated systems but also bespoke straight tube and mandrel bends in a range of sizes as well as CNC-machined components and thermal insulation services.

We are now seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our busy Tube Bending team as a trainee.

Job Description

As a trainee Tube Former & Bender, you will be schooled in all elements of the forming and bending process from reading technical drawings to working with a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, inconel and titanium. You will be partnered with a mentor who will help you understand how these materials react differently during the forming and bending process as well as teaching you how to correctly utilise the various tools and processes required to produce a range of tube and bends which are used in parts from collectors and silencers, right up to manifolds and tailpipes for F1.

Your duties will include:

  • Identifying requirements from technical drawings

  • Working out material quantities for tube and bends

  • Cutting and forming material as required

  • Gaining a good understanding of workshop practices including safe use of equipment such as band saws, grinding wheels, polishing, promecams, tube bending machines, etc to produce and dress parts.

  • Learning sheet metal processes

  • Identification of problem areas and reporting them

  • Assisting with product movement and document control around the workplace

  • Retaining traceability of products

  • Passing on all relevant information to colleagues

  • Working in line with Company quality and health & safety policies

  • Assisting with the resolution of quality concerns

  • Logging on and off jobs via the Company job management system
